Questions

  • Do I need to be in the United States?

    No. That is the point. You need a browser and a decent connection. The number is American; you do not have to be.

  • Where can I call?

    The United States. Everywhere else is switched off — which also keeps an account from running up a bill overnight if its password is ever stolen.

  • Is there an iPhone or Android app?

    Not yet. Native iPhone and Android apps are in testing. Today Presence runs in your browser, and if nobody picks up there, calls forward to a mobile you choose.

  • Can it send text messages?

    Not yet. Texting on US business numbers needs carrier registration, which we are going through. Calls and voicemail work now.

  • Can I bring my existing number?

    Not yet. At launch you choose a new US number from us. Moving an existing number across comes later.

  • Can I use it for emergency calls?

    Not yet. Do not rely on this number to reach 911. Keep a mobile or a landline for that.
